Enrico Maccaferri and Alfonso Borghi - Aida

This high-relief sculpture was created by Alfonso Borghi and Enrico Maccaferri. It was modeled with special refractory clays, prepared for the "Raku" technique, a 16th-century Japanese process, here customized, to achieve unique and unrepeatable surface color effects. Forged at approximately 1000°C, removed from the incandescent kiln, enveloped in smoke, immersed and washed in cold water, the work acquires glossy and opaque, mottled or metallic colors that enhance the sculpted material. The work is part of the "Cosmi" series, which tells the infinite story of the universe.
