Description of the work
Description of the work
The work depicts a seascape. Seascapes, as independent subjects, only emerged in the 19th century, having previously been accompanied by ports and ships, narrating storms and moments of everyday life. Only since Romanticism have seascapes been seen devoid of active participants, seeking to explore the power of nature and the light shimmering on the sea's surface, creating an infinite number of singular and unrepeatable moments that painters strive to capture with the intensity of their brushstrokes.
Enzo Barbacci's painting style is distinguished by its poetic realism: he analyzes reality, drawing lyrical insights from it, exploring with the brushstroke the light that falls on objects and landscapes. He thus creates paintings characterized by an almost primordial simplicity, exalting the humility of nature. Light plays a central role in his works, emphasizing the intimate and unique atmosphere of the moment. There is an ethical intention in his painting, which opposes superficial appearances and ornamentation in pursuit of truth and sincerity. Here too, we see how a common scene, like a seascape, becomes unique thanks to the light touches of yellow and orange that pervade the sea and sky, uniting in a chromatic play that narrates the wonders of nature.
Enzo Barbacci, an Umbrian painter born in Scheggia and Pascelupo in 1951, is deeply connected to the city of Perugia, where he lives and finds inspiration. From an early age, he demonstrated a natural talent for drawing, which over the years became a lifelong passion. His paintings celebrate the hidden beauty of alleys, rooftops, and ancient houses, as well as the authentic dignity of artisans and ordinary people. Barbacci eschews appearances and focuses on the essence, telling stories of humility and poetry through his brush. His works are held in prestigious collections, including the Museum of Non-Violence in New Delhi and the Gallery of the Guardians of the Holy Land in Jerusalem. With his unique style, he invites us to rediscover the value of small things and the authenticity that gives meaning to life. The painter passed away in 2009.
