Flowers as a subject in themselves began to appear in still lifes, a genre that emerged in the early 17th century. Subsequently, painters, especially the Impressionists, increasingly focused on the floral world as an extraordinary opportunity to capture vibrant colors and light. Thus, flowers began to appear not only in vases, but also immersed in their natural landscape. While initially a pretext for painters to attempt a photographic reproduction of reality, with contemporary art, the subject of flowers also becomes a way of interpreting reality.

In this "Vase of Flowers," Enzo Bonetti creates a painting entirely based on the expressive qualities of color. The paint is highly diluted, creating an almost immaterial, volumeless image. The entire subject appears vibrant, full of life and luminous reflections. The space is created by the color itself, through subtle tonal transitions.

Enzo Bonetti was born in Fano in 1916 and passed away in Pesaro in 1987. He studied at the Adolfo Apolloni art school in his hometown, then began his career with Professor Emilio Lazzaro as a restorer and fresco painter. In 1946, he founded the "Accolta dei Quindici." His life was always reserved, divided between Fano and Pesaro. He painted numerous views of his hometown and often participated in the design of carnival floats. He regularly participated in group exhibitions in the province of Pesaro and Urbino, and solo exhibitions in Bologna, Rimini, Avezzano, Ferrara, and Milan.
