Description of the work
Description of the work
In the Africa series, I used very strong colors that are obviously far removed from the predominant African ochres. Essentially, my Africa, as the critic herself has observed, is a sort of round trip, a means, a tool to remind us of the emotion evoked by the extraordinary beauty of our planet, a beauty that is sadly disappearing. The need to paint it in this way therefore arises from the desire and emotion of rediscovering ancient values that push humanity to reconsider and change the behaviors that are destroying the Earth.
I think too many people today haven't set foot on freshly plowed soil, and many more have never even set foot in a vegetable garden. Too much television, too much web, too much virtual world that distracts from the real one.
Here, my Africa is a call to true, real and natural life, a request shouted out by color and a courtship of the perfection and beauty of design and forms, enhanced by small touches of color, such as blue on black to increase the speed of vibration of the colors that return to our eye very bright, as is clearly best seen in the painting THE LION.
In many paintings, most clearly in "Creation" (also called "Burma in Kenya") and in "The Zebra" and "Masai Rain Dance," there are touches of color that recall and reference each other in spatially constructed redundancies within the progression of perspective, both geometric and atmospheric. These bold touches of color serve to suggest a form of communication between all creatures, which, in recognizing and communicating with one another, realize their existence in the objective world, or the world of communication. The ensemble of creatures and this continuous and extraordinary self-recognition and self-examination reveals the omniscience and omnipotence of the creator, God.
Africa is not a contradiction or a deviation from Metarealism; it doesn't eliminate the object, it simply places emotion before it, which becomes the composition's primary subject. Techniques and aesthetic choices, therefore, are always different because they are subordinated to the emotion to which they bend.
My Africa is therefore a metaphorical representation of the emotion that manifests the need to save the beauty of our planet, bringing our actions back within the creative plane.
