Description of the work
Description of the work
Flowers as a subject in themselves began to appear in still lifes, a genre that emerged in the early 17th century. Subsequently, painters, especially the Impressionists, increasingly focused on the floral world as an extraordinary opportunity to capture vibrant colors and light. Thus, flowers began to appear not only in vases, but also immersed in their natural landscape. While initially a pretext for painters to attempt a photographic reproduction of reality, with contemporary art, the subject of flowers also becomes a way of interpreting reality. It can be said that the artist Esa Pratesi Corsini dedicated her entire painting career to the subject of the "vase of flowers," creating numerous versions with the absolute coherence of her own artistic language.
Esa is an artist who truly achieves, in her artistic production, a perfect balance between mimesis and lyricism. Indeed, at the heart of her essentially figurative language lies, undoubtedly, a flawless naturalistic rendering of flowers. Esa stands out for her flawless reproduction of each individual petal, even with a certain plastic consistency and a consequent determination of space within the painting. At the same time, however, the expressive power of her style lies essentially in her pictorial application. Esa's brushstrokes are lively, impressionistic in inspiration, ready to capture every single vibration of light and atmosphere on the flowers and the vase. Furthermore, her brushstrokes are dense with color, and her palette is always determined by a coherent tonal unity in a balanced and vibrant polychromy.
Esa Pratesi Corsini was born in Pistoia in 1927. As can be seen from her entire oeuvre, she is a painter with a solid academic background who, thanks to her excellent technique, manages to maintain a perfect balance between naturalism and a fresh, impressionist flavor. She has dedicated her entire career to the theme of flowers, through which she has consolidated the perfection of her pictorial craft.
