Description of the work
Description of the work
One of the most venerated goddesses in the Egyptian pantheon, the goddess is often depicted as a woman with a solar disk between the horns of a cow. Iconologically, the goddess has various attributes and roles; in fact, she is the goddess of beauty and love, of music, dance, of the sky, protector of the pharaohs, of joy and celebration. Her cult is one of the most ancient, often associated with Ra, the sun god, as his daughter. Symbolically, the solar disk with horns, the sistrum, and the menats represented music and motherhood. Her sacred animal was the cow, symbolizing motherhood, nourishment, and fertility. Artist Eva Hodinova wants to give her own interpretation, allowing the figure to be seen only through the headdress with the symbols that define her. Stylistically, painter Eva Hodinova offers a distinctive representation in which form is extremely important. The work's roughness enhances the pastel colors, undoubtedly influenced by historical rhetoric. The painter's theme has a symbolic significance regarding the female figure and its representation in art, which also underscores the artist's desire to explore themes, combining traditional and modern elements, exploring human nature in her depiction. Born in Prague, Eva Hodinova moved to Italy in 1968. She graduated from Pragoděv High School in Prague in 1964, subsequently attending František Emler's studio in Prague and the Brera Academy of Fine Arts. In addition to her artistic education, she has attended numerous courses, including engraving, restoration, mural fresco, and Raku ceramics. She has had numerous solo exhibitions and participated in numerous international art competitions. She also managed the Angerese Cultural Center and the Galleria Studio d'Arte Liberty in Angera from 1980 to 2016. She is a member of Atelier Capricorno in Cocquio Trevisago, the Association of Free Artists of the Province of Varese, and the Association of Ceramics Artists SVUK-Praga Czech Republic. Her drawings and prints have been included in the Sgarbi Collection, in addition to her works published in the art book "Gli artisti nella Collezione Sgarbi." He is a member of the Museo della Permanente in Milan.
