Only with the development of 19th-century realism did everyday subjects become considered as important as historical or religious ones.

Fausto Pratella, Naples 1888 - 1946. He trained at his hometown academy and under the tutelage of his father Attilio. He was also strongly influenced by Giuseppe Casciaro. He exhibited his works in regional and national exhibitions in Naples, at the Venice International Exhibitions, and at the first Quadrennial in Rome. Many of his paintings were purchased by the Royal House and other notables of the Kingdom of Italy. His work "Lungomare" is exhibited at the Ricci Oddi Modern Art Gallery in Piacenza.
