Description of the work
Description of the work
During the 1950s and 1960s, the so-called poetics of the object began to spread in European and American art. Harking back to the readymades of Dadaist memory, a new wave of groups or movements emerged that repurposed everyday objects as works of art. The departure from traditional Dada lay in the strong influence of Abstract Expressionism, which led to the reconfiguration of objects with new languages and new stimuli.
In Federico Errante's work, the object takes center stage in a new form developed by the artist, drawing inspiration from various contemporary art themes. Beginning with the work of Christo, the artist renowned for his "packaging." Aesthetically, Errante's works offer the same perceptual stimulation as the Hungarian-born artist's packaging. However, in Errante, the object is missing; the work reflects only its form, an extroversion that harks back to the spatialist explorations of masters like Bonalumi and Castellani. Finally, the choice of a fetish of consumer society, like the Coca-Cola bottle, cannot help but lead us to reflect on Pop art as well.
Federico Errante was born in Vicenza in 1949. Since the late 1960s, he has been a member of the famous band "Pino ei Notturni." In 1995, he began exhibiting in galleries and museums around the world, as well as creating public works. In 2003, he discovered the use of plastic and began the important "soft sheaths" series. In 2011, he held his first solo exhibition in Milan at the MyOwnGallery.
