Description of the work
Description of the work
Animal depictions in art have ancient origins, appearing even in primitive cave paintings. For religious reasons, various types of animals appear in the works of various ancient civilizations. It was especially in the Middle Ages, within the International Gothic style, that animal depictions became widespread as true portraits, both within works of art and in notebooks containing drawings and sketches. The presence of animals as subjects in art remained constant until the contemporary era. The painter Fernanda Palvarini stands out in her pictorial production for her unbreakable bond with nature, which she loves to represent in her works. Her favorite subjects are flowers, which are never missing from her paintings. In this particular work, the subject of flowers is accompanied by the delicate depiction of two swans.
Painter Fernanda Palvarini's style is distinguished by an excellent drawing technique. As we can see in this work, the most striking aspect of the representation is its authenticity. First and foremost, the flowers, rendered in every detail and perfectly characterized in terms of volume and plasticity, as well as the two swans, elegantly depicted in a lively and vibrant pictorial form. The interplay of light and shadow is also remarkable, further enlivening her paintings and heightening their realism. In this particular work, Fernanda Palvarini also introduces a further element of lyricism to her depiction of nature. Indeed, thanks once again to her superior technique, she imbues this work with an antique patina, unifying the chromatic surface with a brown tone reminiscent of old parchment and simulating the crackling of the paint layer.
Fernanda Palvarini is an artist originally from Brescia. She has exhibited her work in numerous important exhibitions, both nationally and internationally. Among the many, she has held exhibitions at Orzinuovi Castle, the Hotel de Paris in Monte Carlo, in Dallas, New York, Lugano, Zurich, and at the Casinos of Sanremo and Monte Carlo. In 2004, she received the Oscar for "Painting in the World Award" in Santo Domingo. Her work has been reviewed by critic Vittorio Sgarbi, who called her "an heir to French Expressionism." In 2007, she received honorary citizenship of the city of Ragusa. In 2013, she donated one of her paintings to Pope Francis.
