Description of the work
Description of the work
Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting, as a backdrop, and as a subject itself. The naturalistic depiction of landscape has always been an artist's aspiration. Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance, then with atmospheric rendering in the 16th century, up until the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism.
Seibezzi's works are always characterized by a post-impressionist style. His brushstrokes are quick and light, and with just a few touches he manages to give shape to an object and measure a space. Seibezzi's summary brushwork goes beyond the exploration of chromatic and luminous vibrations; his rapid, characteristic touch has spiritual overtones, designed to create an emotional atmosphere tied to the lagoon view. The compositions are always bathed in a light that almost seems to dissolve things, a light imparted by the crisp, clear colors of his palette.
Fioravante Seibezzi, a Venetian, was born in 1906 and died in 1974. He was among the most important painters of the second generation of the so-called "Burano School." He was discovered by Cesare Laurenti and participated several times in the Rome Quadrennial. He exhibited his works in numerous shows in Venice, Padua, Rome, Cortina d'Ampezzo, Milan, London, Auronzo di Cadore, and abroad. Self-taught, he always devoted himself to plein air painting, developing a cursive and chiaroscuro post-Impressionist style.
