Description of the work
Description of the work
The "Still Life" genre emerged in the early 17th century. It consisted of compositions of inanimate subjects, most often flowers or fruit. While initially it was an opportunity for painters to experiment with naturalistic or photographic reproductions of reality, with contemporary art, the "Still Life" also became a way of interpreting reality. Indeed, as happened, for example, in the Cubist avant-garde or in Giorgio Morandi, the in-depth exploration of objects was aimed at a conceptual representation, taken beyond the mere sensory aspect.
This work allows us to appreciate the technical prowess of painter Francesco Bertini, which translates into a sweet and serene conception of still life, marked by profound lyricism. The composition is balanced and harmonious, but above all, it is the use of color that plays a fundamental role. This is evident in the artist's modulation of light, which creates iridescent hues and vivid reflections on the surfaces of the objects and houses in the background. Bertini, especially in his still lifes, undoubtedly demonstrates his extreme attention to formal values. The volumes of the objects thus possess a well-defined plasticity, in a harmonious and almost geometric conception of the composition. However, the atmospheric lyricism of Bertini's painting slightly erodes the form of these fruits, just enough to imbue them with subtle existential vibrations.
Francesco Bertini is a painter who focuses primarily on landscapes, with a highly lyrical vision of phenomenal reality. Translating emotions into images through a vibrant, cursive style inspired by Impressionism is essential to the artist.
