It sounds strange to talk about life's immobility when the first thing that comes to mind when thinking about today's society is its frenetic pace, a constant evolution of technologies that we can't keep up with. There are moments in many people's lives when routine dominates. Every day seems the same, with the same schedule, the same routes, the same habits, and nothing manages to excite. Perhaps you look up to those who have made different and unconventional life choices, or you long for change, but you can't find the courage to leave your comfort zone, even though you know full well you're not happy. Or else indifference reigns. We also become spectators of our own lives, without being able to cross that barrier that, as in the painting, separates an immobile existence from a life truly lived. The painting represents the indifference of today's world. The men, portrayed as immobile, lifeless forms, watch impassively as they unfold before them. They remain behind something that separates them from reality, like a glass that prevents them from participating in life.
