The painter Toraldo has created a pictorial language in which figuration combines with a strong abstract expressionist component. Toraldo's work clearly reveals the influence of American Abstract Expressionism, particularly Pollock and Action Painting. His work features a strong gestural component, leading him to fill the painting's surface with brushstrokes, forming a dynamic vortex of color. But the chaos is only apparent, as Toraldo effectively controls his gestures in a balance of strokes and colors. Francesco Toraldo was born in Catanzaro in 1960. He developed an interest in painting at an early age, thanks to his father, who was also a painter. His career took off when he moved to Sicily in the 1980s and began collaborating with major galleries. He also developed a passion for jazz music, which would become a constant theme in his art. He has been featured in many important exhibitions throughout Italy, including in 2007 at the Mole Vanvitelliana in Ancona and in 2008 at the Museo dello Splendore in Giulianova.
