Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting, as a backdrop, and as a subject itself. Yet it's noticeable how, within this framework, his painting is completely free. Free, in particular, to capture even the smallest vibrations of light and color, achieving an impressionistic freshness in the view. All this is achieved with fine and accurate hatching, which places Francisco Gimeno Arasa among the great masters of the late 19th century.

Francisco Gimeno Arasa, a Spanish painter born in Tarragona in 1858 and died in Barcelona in 1927, began his artistic training in the workshop of painter and decorator Manuel Marqués. He later moved to Madrid and enrolled at the San Fernando School of Fine Arts, where he studied under landscape artist Carlos de Haes. He entered his work in several local and national competitions, winning an honorable mention at the Barcelona National Exhibition in 1888, and two years later receiving the same award in the General Competition of Fine Arts of the City of Barcelona. In 1904, he was awarded an honorable mention in the National Competition of Fine Arts in Madrid.
