Description of the work
Description of the work
Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting, as a backdrop, and as a subject itself. The naturalistic depiction of landscape has been a major aspiration for artists of every era. Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance; then with atmospheric rendering in the sixteenth century; and finally with the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism.

The refined technique of painter Franco Azzinari is designed to depict the vegetation of his native Calabria, blown by the wind. This way, he demonstrates his high pictorial and graphic skills, expressed through a complex, almost pointillist style that seeks out every single blade of grass, leaf, or petal, each with its own luminous vibration. His compositions are often organized in horizontal bands of color, demonstrating a keen sense of balance and harmony.
Franco Azzinari was born in San Demetrio Corone in 1949 and lives and works in Altomare, also in the province of Cosenza. A trip to Paris, during which he was fascinated by the Impressionists, was crucial to his artistic development. He later opened a studio in Lerici and began depicting Ligurian landscapes. In 1974, he held his first solo exhibition and opened a studio in Milan. Since 1977, he has traveled to the Orient, the United States, Brazil, the Seychelles, and Cuba, where he painted a portrait of Fidel Castro.
