Sacred Vestige - Francis of Assisi , a project coordinated by Scrinium, is a unique and highly original cultural initiative that brings the memory of Italy's patron saint back to life. Thanks to extensive and meticulous work involving leading experts on the friar's life, perfect clones of three precious documents dating back to the 1220s have been created. These include the Papal Letter with which Honorius III, in November 1223, confirmed the Rule of the Order of Friars Minor, and the only two autographed writings of Saint Francis, relics venerated in the Lower Basilica of Saint Francis in Assisi and in the Cathedral of Spoleto. Solet Annuere, the Bullata Letter with which Pope Honorius III, welcoming the desire and mission of Saint Francis, confirmed the Rule of the Friars Minor, is still considered one of the most precious documents in the Franciscan collection, because it contains the twelve precepts that still govern and guide the lives of members of the Order throughout the world. Completing Sacred Vestige - Francis of Assisi are the Letter to Brother Leo, which shows the generous humanity of Francis as he lovingly greets and comforts his brother “with the love of a mother” (sicut mater), and the Chartula of Assisi, a humble and precious fragment of parchment dated 1224 on which Saint Francis writes in his own hand inspired words of blessing to his trusted brother Leo. The work created by Scrinium, in collaboration with the Sacred Convent of San Francesco in Assisi, the Archdiocese of Spoleto-Norcia and the International Society of Franciscan Studies is available in precious numbered copies and represents a complex and multifaceted cultural and “spiritual” experience , a journey into the depths of the cult of the saint of Assisi, to discover the surviving traces of a fascinating world that in many ways is still unknown to many.
