Description of the work
Description of the work
Fulvio Caligiuri is often described as a painter of flowers and angels. This work, however, demonstrates a different side of his work: landscape painting. Landscape painting originated in ancient times and has continued to develop in various directions throughout the history of art. In this case, as the title suggests, we are faced with a landscape in the Marche region. We see the fog descending on the city, making the houses appear as if shrouded in a hazy, mysterious atmosphere.
Fulvio Caligiuri's art is distinguished by soft, suffused colors and moods that range from gentle to dark depending on the subject, almost always maintaining a mysterious element. In this work, he skillfully applies layers of color to create a subtle veil, thus creating a dark and mystical scene.
Fulvio Caligiuri was born in Ceccano in 1930. A multifaceted artist, he sought to master a variety of techniques, applying himself to oil, acrylic, tempera, pencil, pastel, and even lithographic techniques. In the mid-1970s, he directed the independent "Accademia Internazionale del Nudo." His painting is lyrical and poetic, constantly seeking depth of feeling and expression. He exhibited in numerous national and international exhibitions, including in major capitals such as Rome, London, Paris, New York, and Toronto. The painter passed away at the age of 81, in Rome, in 2011.
