Portraiture is one of the most widespread artistic expressions, especially in painting, but also in sculpture, throughout the ages. The work is a study of the human figure, and the artist achieves the exaltation of its plastic qualities with the use of a simple black line. With just a few lines, the artist emphasizes the subject's volumes, simultaneously endowing them with a certain physiognomic and expressive characterization. Furio Cavallini, Piombino 1929 – Cecina 2012. In 1952 he held his first solo exhibition at the Palazzo di Parte Guelfa in Florence. In 1957, at the VIII National Exhibition of the Fiorino Prize in Florence, he was awarded the Publishers and Printers Prize. In 1979, the Culture Department of the Municipality of Milan organized a solo exhibition of his work entitled Immagini del Quotidiano. In 1984, an anthological exhibition of his drawings was held at the Corrente Foundation in Milan.
