Description of the work
Description of the work
Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting, as a backdrop, and as a subject itself. The naturalistic depiction of landscape has been a major aspiration for artists of every era. Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance; then with atmospheric rendering in the sixteenth century; and finally with the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism.
The work demonstrates the artist's post-Impressionist maturity. The composition is entirely constructed through color, and the brushstrokes have a notable structural value. The painter's aim is not to capture the sensory aspect of the landscape, but to capture its very essence, its substance. To this end, the brushstrokes, rich in texture, intervene, which, despite the essentiality of the representation, breaks down the space into different planes, recording the vibrations of light and life in the subject. Thus, the trees are constructed through a tormented stroke that fills them with a nervous vitality, also conveyed by the intricate design of the branches. The dense impasto of color allows the painter to almost dig into the material, carving his own mark, charged with existential lyricism.
The artist G. Bertini demonstrates a remarkable pictorial technique based on a material application of color and a composition with broad brushstrokes of post-impressionist inspiration.
