Description of the work
Description of the work
Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting, as a backdrop, and as a subject itself. The naturalistic depiction of landscape has been a major aspiration for artists of every era. Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance; then with atmospheric rendering in the sixteenth century; and finally with the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism. Cappelletti directed much of his artistic production toward landscape painting. His works frequently feature a compositional theme that places Nature as the undisputed protagonist. Human presence, however, is very subdued. It appears at the center of the work, almost lost and insignificant in the face of the grandeur of creation.
The pictorial language used by the artist G. Cappelletti relies primarily on color. The space is fundamentally two-dimensional, and the subject is constructed through cursive, synthetic brushstrokes that give the work a fresh, immediate quality. The application of color creates subtle nuances that make the representation even more expressive. Light is also important, and in Cappelletti's views, it always takes the form of sudden flashes of white.
G. Cappelletti, the artist behind this painting, is an artist deeply influenced by post-Impressionist painting movements. His language is extremely concise and grounded in the expressive power of color.
