Description of the work
Description of the work
The work is an abstract composition. "Abstract" derives from the Latin term "abstrahere," which means to extract or draw out. The process of abstraction, in fact, consists of eliminating the particular and individual aspects of an object to derive a universal concept. From Kandinsky to Mondrian, from Pollock to Mirò, many painters have pushed the process of abstraction to the limit in their works, paradoxically creating pure forms and pure colors that do not exist in nature, or translating their emotions and instincts into images.

G. Locatelli is a painter open to various styles and influences. In this case, the artist is inspired by Piet Mondrian's exploration of harmonies and color balances. In a sort of citation, Trotta revisits the Dutch painter's geometric reconstructions, but with a new expressiveness. Rather than breaking them down into regular squares, he prefers one composed of triangular and angular shapes. In this way, the composition has a more fragmented rhythm and, moreover, allows for no pauses (he uses almost no white), and its structure is tight. However, the principle of the mechanomorphic and neoplastic reconstruction of perceived reality remains faithful.
Artist G. Locatelli is a painter open to a variety of compositional solutions. His pictorial production is divided between a more classical and traditional figurative style and an experimental approach inspired by abstract avant-garde movements.
