Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting, as a backdrop, and as a subject itself. Giancarlo Nardecchia was born in Valmontone in 1931. His artistic career has contributed to the artistic heritage of Val Montone with the restoration of the Cathedral of San Gregorio Magno, the painting of the patron saint, Sant'Antonino, and several fresco cycles. In 1980, he painted the portrait of John Paul II and since then has received various commissions from the Vatican, especially portraits of bishops.
