Description of the work
Description of the work
Gianfranco Minelli was born in April 1931 in Milan. He began his career in Lucerne, Switzerland, at the age of twenty-five, drawing inspiration from the works of Expressionists and Post-Expressionists such as Kirchner, Vlaminck, Nolde, Van Gogh, and Gauguin.
Removing himself from any theoretical determination, he is driven only by a pure, instinctive pictorial ideal and tries to see the world in its primary essence.
He does not want to grasp the aesthetic form fixed in an abstract and Platonic scheme, but the form as a term of development in a further evolutionary process, where reality, transferred into the Ego, can be restored in the work on a human and not conceptual level.
His works are held in public and private collections in Italy, France, Switzerland, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Norway, Great Britain, Greece, Spain, Holland, Luxembourg and the United States.
He died in Modena in 2008.
