Description of the work
Description of the work
Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting, as a backdrop, and as a subject itself. The naturalistic depiction of landscape has been a major aspiration for artists of every era. Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance; then with atmospheric rendering in the sixteenth century; and finally with the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism.
The style developed by Gianni Guadalaxara in his works highlights a post-Impressionist maturity. The painter's aim is not simply to capture the sensory aspect of the view, but to capture its very essence, its substance. To this end, he employs a richly textured brushstroke, which, despite the simplicity of the representation, fleshes out the objects, breaking them down into different planes, capturing the vibrations of light and life within them. In this way, Guadalaxara manages to enhance the subject's formal values in an immediate and refreshing execution.
Gianni Guadalaxara was born in Gaeta in 1934. His compositions draw on a post-Impressionist pictorial language. The sensory element is completely transcended in a complex conception of artistic creation in which the artist's gestures themselves play a fundamental role.
