Description of the work
Description of the work
Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting, as a backdrop, and as a subject itself. The naturalistic depiction of landscape has been a constant aspiration for painters. Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance; then with atmospheric rendering in the sixteenth century; and finally with the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism.
The painting was created with a remarkable Impressionist technique. The artist uses rapid, hatched brushstrokes to quickly delineate shapes and volumes. This allows him to capture, with every single brushstroke, the effects of light and atmosphere on objects, and to instantly convey a countryside landscape with precise weather and environmental conditions onto the canvas. The entire color palette, from the field to the sky, is designed to reflect the precise atmospheric conditions intended to be represented in a perfect conception of plein air painting. As with the Impressionists, the perspective grid is not eliminated; spatial depth is determined exclusively through the modulations of color.
The artist Gino Valori was a Tuscan painter originally from Montecatini, where he was born in 1896 and died in 1979 at the age of 83. As we can see from this work, he was a painter closely tied to an Impressionist style. His painting style fully reflects the tradition of en plein air and an immediate rendering of landscapes.
