Description of the work
Description of the work
Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting, as a backdrop, and as a subject itself. The naturalistic depiction of landscape has been an artist's aspiration throughout the centuries. Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance, then with atmospheric rendering in the sixteenth century, up until the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism.
The style of painter Gino Viviani stems from a meditation on post-impressionism and the synthesis of the figure through color, leading to his own personal style. His language, in fact, is based on a broad application of color, which always has a remarkably textured consistency. The image is thus rendered vibrant and alive, full of expressive vigor.
Gino Viviani was born in Milan in 1927. A radiologist by profession, he was the longtime head physician at the Mariano Comense hospital. But a passion for art has always been part of his life. His father, Guido, was a painter and decorator, as were his grandfather and uncle, Enos Passerini. He primarily paints landscapes in oils and watercolors.
