Gio Stefan - City of Glass

The title recalls Paul Auster's postmodern novel; just as in the painting the play of reflections on the wet road confuses the observer, making it difficult to distinguish what is real from what is mirrored in the asphalt, so the jumble of characters in the novel, intertwined and losing their identities, disorients the reader. In both the book and the painting, the metropolis takes center stage, a glass kaleidoscope that deprives the observer of a clear orientation.
