Description of the work
Description of the work
Inspired by the 1956 film "Missiles in the Backyard," starring Paul Newman. A long-established couple is captured in a trendy American kitchen for the time, with various designer items on display. It's a luxurious kitchen, but the woman presents a restless, penetrating gaze as she observes her husband, who skeptically examines a package of frozen foods, also a novelty at the time. "He doesn't like pre-cooked foods," she asks herself. "Does he really want to confine me to a gilded prison?"
The painting deliberately features cold colors in a relationship that is subtly cooling.
