Description of the work
Description of the work
The bull in art is a subject with ancient origins, appearing even in primitive cave paintings. For religious reasons, it also frequently appears in the works of ancient civilizations, particularly the Minoan-Cretan civilization. In contemporary art, Picasso's studies of the bull are famous.
Artist Giorgio Bordini demonstrates his technical prowess with this swift and highly effective depiction of a bull. With broad, diluted brushstrokes, the artist manages to delineate the animal's form while simultaneously conveying its volume and mass. The touches of color have a remarkable structural value, keeping the execution alive and fresh.
Giorgio Bordini was an artist born in Pordenone in 1927 and died in 1999. He trained in Venice, where he joined Romano Scarpa's group, collaborating on set design. In 1955, he moved to Venezuela, where he became artistic director of Radio Caracas Television. In 1961, he returned to Italy and, once again with Romano Scarpa, joined the editorial staff of Topolino. Initially a mere illustrator, but later also a scriptwriter, Giorgio Bordini created over 200 stories for Disney.
