A COLD DAY ON THE LAKE

It was really cold that day by the lake. I had positioned myself with my easel in a sheltered spot from the light, damp wind that clung to the skin of my hands.
I wanted to close up and leave, but the atmosphere, as the light increased, had changed.
The colors matched harmoniously and the shades, aided by the fog, had an unreal softness.
I was cold, but I had to focus on those colors and the soft transition from the blues, which seemed greenish, to the azure of the rippling lake, which seemed gray, the pale earth touching the light sand. A few reddish plants brightened the landscape.
The work was a success and even today, when I decided to sell it, I feel the same emotions when I look at it.
