Formally, we are obviously in the realm of illusionistic realism, but Matichecchia, with great personality and remarkable technique, knows how to construct his representations with a soft and gentle touch, capable of creating a suffused atmosphere in which the clarity of the complete and perfect forms is subtly eroded, lending vitality and dynamism even to the inanimate object. In this way, Matichecchia creates a truly existentialist poetics of things.
