Giuseppe Santalena - Long bean red

The path undertaken by Giuseppe Santalena (Bressanone, 1951, lives and works in Verona) to definitively transcend the dimension of the work and engage the viewer with almost hypnotic effects, looks to two great masters: Agostino Bonalumi and Enrico Castellani. He draws on the concept of spatial invasion to create a new perceptual stimulus through a relief work and the resulting play of shadows on its surface. Santalena primarily uses plastic materials, thermoformed with a matte lacquer and glossy plexiglass inserts, which convey a greater sense of compactness and rationality. As for color, the artist adheres to monochrome, like the two great masters, variegated with brief, unconventional interventions, yet calibrated with a mathematical balance, which add an extra touch of style. Aesthetically, the rigor is total and pervades the entire creative process of works that combine spatialist inspiration with the aesthetic elegance of design.
