Goffredo Dezi - Still Life

Still life has continued to be a significant genre in contemporary art, evolving and reinventing itself through new perspectives and artistic expressions, becoming both a subject and a means of exploring conceptual and symbolic concepts. In this representation, the painter doesn't focus on the objects, but rather seeks to convey their semblance through the irregularity and texture of the forms, bringing the canvas almost to abstraction. The pictorial material, thanks also to the mixed media that gives concreteness to the panel, creates an almost three-dimensional effect. The composition is overall homogeneous, although the background appears detached from the small table and the objects arranged on it seem disjointed. The pastel color palette fills the sparse pictorial line, as does the rough texture of the canvas. Goffredo Dezi is an artist who has developed his own essentially expressionist aesthetic, based primarily on the painterly gesture that cuts through dense matter. Little is known about his artistic career, but he can be placed within the context of late 20th-century figurative painting.
