Description of the work
Description of the work
The work is inspired by Giorgione's masterpiece, The Tempest, painted between 1502 and 1503 and housed at the Gallerie dell'Accademia in Venice. The painting is a cornerstone of Renaissance painting, especially in the Venetian context and the development of tonal painting.
The painter Guido pays homage to the master Giorgione with his own interpretation of the masterpiece. The Tempest is reinterpreted in a contemporary key, using a language that could be described as expressionist. The Castelfranco painter's profound naturalism is subjected to formal synthesis in a representation where detail gives way to the power of color. The landscape takes on a new meaning, no longer a naturalistic description, but an expression of spiritual values that transcend phenomenal reality.
From the analysis of this work we can appreciate how Guido is an essentially expressionist artist who aims to transform reality into spiritual and evocative values.
