Description of the work
Description of the work
We are faced with a landscape work. The artist chose to depict a village located along the coast. The village stands on a cliff, towering over the sea. It is composed of a cluster of uniform farmhouses, creating a cohesive ensemble that immediately draws the eye.
The painting's style is reminiscent of murals. The color is applied clearly and compactly, without excessive use of light and shadow. The colors appear soft, Slightly opaque, almost reminiscent of frescoes. Especially in the houses, we find a strong graphic element. The composition is well-studied and harmonious, where sea and sky create two complementary and contrasting blue fields.
Claudio Heredia was born in 1954 in Buenos Aires. He began his career as a muralist, graphic artist, and painter in Argentina. He later moved to Italy, but remained faithful to his country's art, expressing it in small-scale works, using gouaches, ink, pen, pencil, pastel, tempera, acrylic, and oil. His subjects range from moments of everyday life to figures, landscapes, animals, and objects. The artist has held solo and group exhibitions throughout Italy. Thanks to his fame, in 1992 he was also commissioned to create large murals, " La Pachamama, 500 Years of Resistance ," a collaboration with Gianni Berra, executed in Rimini, and " La Carrozza " in Florence.
Throughout his life, the artist continued to combine large-scale and small-scale works, ranging from murals to book illustrations. He also dabbled in sculpture, creating sculptural evocations of figures on modeled fabric. Art critic and journalist Alberto Gavazzeni described him as follows: "...he always fears falling into the trap of pictorial rhetoric; instead of defining them, he prefers to imbue his subjects with a sense of generality, as if they were archetypes from which we must begin to understand the joys, passions, and sorrows of the world, as if they were raw material to be shaped and reshaped in pursuit of an unattainable perfection." The artist passed away in 2015 at just 61 years old.
Condition: The work is in excellent condition.
