Ivan Melzi - Dreams

The term FOTOMATERICHE was born from the fusion of three hobbies: graphics, painting and photography. A few years ago I created this technique that allows me to combine these passions, giving life to true works of modern art, where the thicknesses of acrylic plasters and pigments are mixed with the hues of the photo previously processed on the computer and then plotted in high definition. It took me several years of experimentation to perfect this technique of mine. Combining very different materials was a major obstacle to overcome, and fusing all of this to create a contemporary language was the real challenge. In some cases I like to insert LED lighting systems with the aim of further enhancing the material thicknesses. THE CRITICISM These works represent the highest degree of expressive freedom and open-mindedness, aimed at a sprawling exploration of new media and expressive tools. Geometries are the artist's starting point for an investigation of existence, not a purely stylistic exercise. Ivan Melzi distanced himself from the figurative style he had imprinted on his early works. His passion and commitment to technology undoubtedly influenced his pictorial language, which leaned toward abstraction. Melzi thus successfully embraced "multidimensionalism" through the skillful modulation of volumes and voids, spatial and chromatic factors, and extroversions within sometimes monochromatic backgrounds, a combination that creates significant spatial vibrations. This artist decisively manifests the imprint of his strong and vital personality; his art is studied in the details of similar elements repeated in series together with an impulsive gesture. Melzi has participated in group and solo exhibitions and currently works with galleries that present his works in prestigious art venues. Ivan Melzi has constructed a compositional line that is at times rigorous; the geometric elements, the cosmic spaces formed by monochromatically structured backgrounds, and darts of vibrant, bold color between the empty spaces represent a perfect conceptual and stylistic synthesis.
