Portraiture is one of the most widespread artistic expressions, especially in painting, but also in sculpture, throughout the ages. Portraiture is, first and foremost, a description of the subject depicted, an attempt to capture their physiognomy and individual characteristics truthfully and naturally. With the progressive evolution of artistic research, the physiognomic description of the subject has also been accompanied by a psychological one. Therefore, over the centuries, portraiture has also become a means of introspective investigation of the subject, their character, and their state of mind. The processes of abstraction brought about by contemporary art have contributed to this type of investigation.

Ivana Panizzo has a very traditional approach to painting. This is evident in both her landscapes and her depiction of the human figure. The structure of her work, therefore, is essentially provided by a very strong drawing. Ivana Panizzo leaves little room for painterly and atmospheric effects, without, however, neglecting a naturalistic representation. Thus, the flesh tones are soft and the objects blend into the space. Overall, the painter demonstrates an excellent technique that allows her to achieve a perfect rendering of the subject.

Ivana Panizzo was born in Meolo (Venice). She attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice, dedicating her life to art and works of mercy. She has exhibited her work in Italy and abroad. Her depiction of reality is predominantly naturalistic, supported by excellent pictorial technique and a solid drawing structure in the composition of her works.
