The Bible (Pentateuch) by Leonardo Cremonini - Fmr Art'è

The work includes an introductory essay by Frédéric Manns, former director of the Studium Biblicum Franciscanum in Jerusalem; the first five books of the Bible (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy) in the official version edited by the Italian Episcopal Conference; and eight color plates outside the text, created specifically for this edition by master Leonardo Cremonini.

The stitching, binding and embossed cover of the volume, in natural Veau Aniline leather, with an original design in five distinct elements, barrel-dyed in brown, with five ribs and hot-stamped gold inscriptions on the spine, were made using a manual process by Antica Legatoria di Riccardo Steri in Corciano.

Five copies of Leonardo Cremonini's original works have been placed on the front cover and inside covers of the volume: The Imprints of the Infinite; “God said, 'Let there be light!' And there was light. God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness, and called the light day, and the darkness he called night” (Gen 1:3-5); “In the third month after the Israelites had gone out of the land of Egypt, on that very day, they came into the wilderness of Sinai” (Exodus 19:1); “Now Pharaoh's daughter came down to the Nile to bathe. She saw the basket among the reeds, and when she opened it, she saw the child” (Exodus 2:5-6); and The First Light, created using the textural litho-serigraphic technique on brass plates covered in 24k gold, at the Santa Chiara art print shop of Marcello Tiboni in Urbino in a limited edition.

The Bible: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy was printed in a single edition under the direction of Marilena Ferrari sumptibus FMR editore on the feast of the Chair of St. Peter the Apostle in AD 2008. The volume Bible: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy was produced in an exclusive and special limited edition. The first copy of the edition is reserved for His Holiness Benedict XVI.

The pure cotton veiled paper, 170 g, specially created for this edition and embellished with the watermark with the logo of the “Livres de peintres” collection, was hand-made in a round shape on a frame with a particular exclusive formula studied for art publishing by Cartiere d'Arches in France.
