Wine, the drink that is more familiar to us than any other, everywhere in the places and times that accompany the flow of our lives, has always been present, is present.

Celebrations, anniversaries, weddings, banquets, have wine as a common denominator;

even in church it is found elevated to a sacred rank.

Who among us has never felt proud to offer a bottle of good wine, extolling its vintage or grape variety, and claiming to be an expert sommelier?

An entire world revolves around wine, with economic factors and tradition cementing its importance. Yet, not only do they address this beverage, but also those who are long-time consumers and perhaps even connoisseurs, recounting the history of wine and its most significant events, leading the reader by the hand, like the protagonist of this adventure, without taxing their attention and patience with technicalities and notions, which are present throughout the text and are nevertheless the heart of the story.

I myself, who am honored to be the editor of this publication, have suffered from the lack of light literature that could provide me with the basics for understanding this nectar, thus avoiding embarrassing situations whenever I had to taste and decide which wine to recommend to my friends, perhaps by reading the label, which stated, but did not communicate, what it meant.

Always a gamble. I've almost always been lucky. Almost! Even more so, when life's twists and turns made me the owner of a winery with a renowned wine, my ignorance had become unbearable.

Hence the idea of ​​giving the large number of wine shop patrons and lovers of good wine a simple way to be informed consumers.

What would it mean for Italian and European citizens to wake up without understanding the historical foundations, the men who shaped our nation? Ignoring that Greece, Ancient Rome, the Middle Ages, the Enlightenment, the Risorgimento, Julius Caesar, Leonardo da Vinci, Garibaldi, and the others are the cornerstones of the present that surrounds us, in which we are immersed and participate.

Fortunately, appreciating good wine is something different and more engaging than drinking mineral water or cola;

It means drinking history, culture, tradition, and technology together. “A unique sensation!”
