The chessboard

The plaster, worked with a spatula, creates a surface that is both minimal and intense, where light takes center stage. The texture gradually becomes more complex, leading the eye toward a final checkerboard motif: not painted, but sculpted, suggested by tactile variations and reliefs. Smooth surfaces alternate with denser, rougher areas, creating a visual rhythm that recalls the geometric order of the pattern, without ever losing the gestural power of the material. It's a play of solids and voids, shadows and reflections, where white is not absence but multiplicity.
