Only with the development of 19th-century realism did everyday subjects become considered as important as historical or religious ones. The artist Lamberto Lamberti specialized in genre scenes with popular themes, landscapes, and still lifes.

Lamberto Lamberti was a painter from Brescia, born in 1925 and died in 2003. While still very young, he was a student of Angelo Landi and Emilio Pasini. Among his solo exhibitions, particularly memorable are those held at the following galleries: "Vittoria" (Brescia, 1942); "Vanni" (Bergamo, 1950); "Bolzani" (Milan, 1952, 1954); "Gussoni" (Milan, 1957, 59-1965, 67); "Accademia" (Milan, 1959, 1969); "Il Vertice" (Milan, 1969); "Centro bresciano d'arte" (Brescia, 1969).
