Description of the work
Description of the work
Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting, as a backdrop, and as a subject itself. The naturalistic depiction of landscape has been a major aspiration for artists of every era. Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance; then with atmospheric rendering in the sixteenth century; and finally with the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism.
Painter Laura Vitali demonstrates her own personal lyricism of landscape, expressed through a pictorial language primarily based on color. An expert in watercolor, this artist's signature style is particularly distinctive, employing broad, highly diluted brushstrokes in all her works. In this way, Laura Vitali entrusts her expressive power to transparent glazes onto which she can transfer all the reflections of light and water. Laura Vitali's touch, moreover, is powerfully synthetic, capable of generating a form, an object, with a simple brushstroke.
Laura Vitali lives and works in Bolzano Vicentino. A graduate of the Toschi Art Institute in Parma, she is a painter and poet. She has received numerous awards, prizes, and mentions at solo and group exhibitions in Italy and abroad. Her works are permanently exhibited at the Pinacoteca d'Arte Moderna, San Francesco in San Marino, and the Centro Europeistico di Cultura in Parma. Among the numerous solo and group exhibitions in which Laura Vitali has participated are the Artexpo in New York, the Atlanta Contemporary Art Fair, Art Buyers in Dallas, Arte Fiera in Vicenza, and Artexpo in Verona. Among the numerous awards she has received in national competitions are the Fiorino d'Oro Città di Firenze (1951) and the First Prize Città di Verona (1979). Vitali's works have been published in art newspapers and magazines, yearbooks, and catalogs.
