Description of the work
Description of the work
This special limited edition by FMR, edited by Monsignor Pasquale Iacobone, explores the historical and geographical meaning of sacred art. This publication recounts a unique journey into different religions and how they have nourished art and art history over the centuries. This well-executed volume complements the text with illustrations documenting how each civilization has expressed its religiosity through artwork, declaring this union fundamental throughout the centuries. Even today, art and religion are elements that complement and interpenetrate each other; artists seek answers to religious questions through the medium of art. The volume also features an artistic intervention by Maestro Ugo Riva, who chose to place his seal on the work with the bronze bas-relief entitled "Search for Truth." The bas-relief, the result of an ancient technique called sand casting, was embellished with a Murano glass gem that symbolically represents divine light and expresses every human's yearning for a higher truth. The stitching, binding, and cover in barrel-dyed red Veau Aniline leather, with five ribs and white gold inscriptions on the spine, were handcrafted in the form of a triptych at Bruno Superti's L'Arte del Libro bookbindery in Todi.
