Leon Giuseppe Buono - Female Figure in Pose

Born in Naples and lived in Pozzuoli.

He studied at the Academy of Naples.

At a very young age, he exhibited his works in group shows that immediately received acclaim and success from critics and enthusiasts, even winning numerous awards.

He traveled extensively throughout Italy and abroad, exhibiting his works in many important cities and various capitals of Europe, America, and even Australia and Japan.

Many of his paintings are now found in prestigious art galleries and in public or private institutions in the various cities he visited, but especially in Naples.

After the Great War he retired to Pozzuoli, where he continued his work until his last days.

His paintings vibrate in a lyrical and harmonious fusion of light and shadow, underlined by warm and cold, dazzling and transparent colors.

The technique is delicate and careful, nourished by vigorous brushstrokes aimed at enhancing the contour.

The artist Buono infuses his works with his great artistic sensitivity in interpreting the sensations produced by the landscapes he chooses, very often representing calm seas.
