Book of Hours of Ugo Riva - Fmr Art'è

The edition includes twenty-nine Cantos from the Psalter in the poetic translation of David Maria Turoldo, seven Cantos from the New Testament, and the Ave Maria selected by Monsignor Gianfranco Ravasi, author of the general introduction and commentaries on the texts, eighteen color plates outside the text, thirty-seven initials, and a series of line drawings created exclusively by Maestro Ugo Riva. Just as the Breviary is the book of prayer for clergy, so the Book of Hours is the text for lay people to meditate and pray. The Book of Hours produced today by ART'E' is a unique work because it successfully combines an ancient tradition with contemporary art; more precisely, it is "an attempt to freely recreate the ancient genre by relying exclusively on canonical Judeo-Christian prayers in the highest and most theological sense of the term."

The cover of the volume features an example of Ugo Riva's Pater Noster, an original bas-relief work in a special metal alloy, measuring 132 x 152 mm, cast, covered in 24-carat gold, and hand-coated at the Farbel Artistic Foundry in Brescia. The 18 plates outside the text are printed using a litho-serigraphic technique on high-quality BFK Rives 100% cotton 220 g paper. Binding: the stitching, binding, and cover of the volume, in drum-dyed and hand-finished sheepskin, with four ribs, four straps on the spine, and gold inscriptions, were created using an ancient manual process by the "l'Arte del Libro" art bookbindery in Todi.

The Book of Hours volume with illustrations by Ugo Riva was produced in a limited edition, exclusive worldwide edition.
