Description of the work
Description of the work
Lilly Nardi was born in Rome, where she lives and works after completing her artistic training at the historic Art Institute on Via Ripetta.
The works of Roman artist Lilly Nardi are imbued with joyful freshness, energy, and movement. They tell us of a profound yet lively and curious universe, expressing a formal and chromatic allure and fascination.
To Rome, to its gates, to its hidden, less frequented, or forgotten corners, he sings an ode that, from the single detail, from the small part that encompasses the whole, conveys all his love for his city. Likewise, flowers, especially roses, with their royal or magnificent colors, and women with their mysterious gaze or the clear serenity of a happy moment. His works reveal an original and innovative artistic journey.
Some critics have defined her as a conceptual-spatial artist as an extraordinary observer of the world.
Lilly Nardi's first solo exhibition dates back to 1977, then in 1978 she exhibited at the Galleria Due Leoni on Via Margutta, while in 1979, one of her most important exhibitions on the Portoni of Rome, took place at the historic Galleria Della Tartaruga on Via Sistina and in the same year at the equally famous Galleria Consorti on Via Margutta, which hosted the exhibition for which the great sculptor Pericle Fazzini presented her, emphasizing in her painting the absence of rhetoric and the sensitivity in capturing that particular light, which only Rome possesses. Other solo exhibitions followed in the following years, including one at the Galleria Marguttina in 1981 and one dedicated to Alberto Sordi at the Galleria Consorti on Via Margutta in 1982. She exhibited again at the Tartaruga in 1986 and from the following year onwards she took part in group exhibitions both in Italy and abroad, for example in France, Germany and Belgium.
Since 2004, he has resumed solo exhibitions, including one at the Torretta Valadier on Ponte Milvio and in 2005 at the Banca Popolare di Milano in Rome. In 2007 and 2008, solo exhibitions were held at the RGB46 Gallery in Rome. From 2008 to 2014, he participated in the Terna Prize. In April 2009, he held a solo exhibition in Milan in the prestigious halls of Palazzo Cusani on Via Brera, home of the Army Officers' Club. In December 2009, he exhibited in central Milan at a branch of the Banca Nazionale del Lavoro in aid of the TELETHON cause. In May 2010, he took part in the group exhibition "Composition... Decomposition... Movement" at Palazzo Margutta in Rome. In April, May, and June 2011, he participated in numerous group exhibitions, including "Venice meets Rome with the Roman artists of Via Giulia" in conjunction with the 54th International Art Exhibition. In April 2012, she placed second in the 6th International "Natale di Roma" Award in the abstract painting section. In April 2013, she received the Special Jury Prize at the 7th International "Natale di Roma" Award. In June 2013, a solo exhibition of her work was held at the Portico "Carafa", a fascinating medieval structure in the historic center of Rome near Piazza Navona.
Her rich and exciting formal exploration has for years given way to a new creative flow. What Lilly Nardi now paints is more focused on the harmony of colors and shapes, rather than on descriptive figuration, and thrives on immediate gestures.
It's a veritable explosion of color, no longer easily identifiable. The new canvases strike us with their energy and freshness: they possess a rhythm and explosive energy that demonstrate the courage of a painter who, despite her artistic maturity, retains the spirit and joy of her early works, and is willing to challenge and challenge herself every time, every day.
