Description of the work
Description of the work
The Tree-lined Landscape, from 1961, harks back to the artist's figurative period, where the emotional representation of the view takes root. At this very moment in his career, the painter finds himself immersed in the landscape painting context, capturing, in a concise and personal manner, the features of a real landscape. This controlled disorder contrasts with the rigidity and formality he was accustomed to encountering in traditional views. Influenced by his teacher Bruno Zoni, a lover of an intimate, everyday reality with coloristic talents tending toward tonal resonances of the mid-twentieth century, Lucio Brugliera depicts through his painting a moment of personal inspiration.
Lucio Brugliera has a style all his own. The drawing in this painting is overshadowed by a swift and decisive brushwork, which substantively depicts the landscape. The painting is based on monochrome tonal transitions, which facilitate a visually essential vision, drawing the viewer's attention to the pictorial detail and creating a strong connection between the naturalistic representation and the artist's subjective mental vision. A close connection with nature and a sense of immersion in the surrounding environment create harmony in terms of variety and uniqueness.
Contemporary painter Lucio Brugliera was born in Milan in 1936. His mentor was Bruno Zoni, a significant twentieth-century painter known for his airy, light-filled paintings that became more abstract over time. Lucio Brugliera, similar to his master, began as a figurative painter; in fact, his work from the 1950s to the 1970s explored this approach before shifting toward informal art. Furthermore, in 2010 he authored the book "Vai dove sono gli altri," in which he recounts his childhood experiences during World War II. He died in 2013 in Fidenza, Parma.
