Description of the work
Description of the work
The nude celebrates the human form, doing justice to the beauty and perfection of the body, an expression of sensuality that challenges social and cultural norms. The theme reflects on human vulnerability by exploring different perspectives. From the Venus de Milo to Lucien Freud's psychological representation of the body, the female nude offers a variety of meanings that still resonate in contemporary art today. The female figure reveals her nakedness in all its facets, reflecting herself in a mirror not only physically but also psychologically. Luigi Dalla Vigna's surrealist style leads us to a depiction of exquisite detail in which specific subjects are clearly recognizable, leaving the rest to the imagination. The painter's style seeks a figurative painting that focuses on reality. This pictorial experience is contrasted by the juxtaposition of objects that clash with the rest, returning to a state of exploration of the image. The resulting dimension of unreality is amplified by the figurative painting. The woman seen from behind has remarkable anatomical characterization, to the detriment of the unidentified green figure in the foreground, which, although it could be traced back to the plant world, boasts familiarity with the human world. The soft, sparkling pastel colors make the scene even more dreamlike and visionary. Luigi Dalla Vigna was a Venetian artist, born in 1924 in Abano Terme and died in Padua in 1990. His paintings are classified as 20th-century art. We have learned very little about his artistic career, but admiring his works reveals his exploration of figurative art with surrealist influences.
