Description of the work
Description of the work
Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting, as a backdrop, and as a subject itself. The naturalistic depiction of landscape has always been an artist's aspiration. Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance, then with atmospheric rendering in the sixteenth century, up until the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism.
The painter Luigi Fioretti developed a highly distinctive and recognizable style in his landscape compositions. For him, the representation of tangible reality meant reconstructing the world according to geometric and rational principles. There is therefore a complete adherence to the mechanomorphism of the Cubists and Futurists, which Fioretti, however, combines with the ties to his homeland. Thus, his Sicilian villages become compositions of pure shapes and colors, where sunlight, and its refraction on water, creates the geometric rhythm.
Luigi Fioretti is a painter specializing in landscapes. His style is inspired by Cubist geometric decompositions.
