Description of the work
Description of the work
Luigi Pallara's painting depicts a glacial landscape, immersed in a desolate and inhospitable atmosphere. The scene unfolds with a perspective that evokes the sense of a strenuous journey: a dog, a donkey laden with white wood, and a stylized man move in line, like fragile figures struggling against harsh nature. The man, with a slender, elongated body, seems to cling to his hat or hood, resisting a wind.
The painting's style is characterized by an expressive simplicity that combines textured elements and stylized details. The soft colors, dominated by very light shades that almost blend the sky with the snow, create an ethereal and cold atmosphere. The snow is rendered with a more textured feel, while the figures of the animals and the man are treated with greater precision, yet remain essential in their details. The man, in particular, is depicted as a stylized mannequin, with thin, elongated legs, and his face is undefined, almost obliterated by the gesture of shielding himself from the wind.
Unfortunately, to date, research has not led us to identify a complete biography of the artist Luigi Pallara. The only information that has emerged concerns an exhibition of his works held in 1973 at the Galleria Viotti in Turin, cited in some sources related to contemporary exhibitions. This information, though limited, confirms Pallara's role in the 20th-century art scene. From an analysis of this painting, we can deduce that Luigi Pallara adopted a realistic figurative approach, enriched with elements of visual synthesis.
